What is a matboard? Put simply – a matboard is a 1.6mm thick cardboard in various colors, with different textures and surfaces (e.g. velvet, silk, linen).
Matboard is the main framing element. From a practical point of view – it places and protects the artwork. From an artistic point of view it brings out and adds depth to the artwork. By choosing different matboards, combining several for one artwork and choosing different sized matboards, you can completely alter the mood of your artwork, as shown in pictures below and in Gallery.
